Escape around Saint Gilles Croix de Vie (port, beach, forest...)

To fully experience this day, which promises to be rich in emotion, you may need to change your habits and set your alarm clock.

No need to get up at dawn...

Unless the spectacle of the rising sun tempts you...

No, the main thing is that you have had your fill of energy during the night and that you are in a radiant mood.

And here we go for a day of 100% discovery in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, our dear neighbour located at about fifteen minutes from the campsite.

Zagarella's reminder (what you should bring):

  • A pair of trainers or hiking boots
  • A cap, a bob or a beret (it doesn't matter what style as long as you are comfortable)
  • A few energy-giving foods (cereal bars, dried fruit, etc.)
  • Water, lots of water, especially if the temperatures are summery
  • A good physical condition (optional)

NB: for the picnic lunch, we advise you to go to the "market" (see below).

We'll start at the old port of Saint Gilles with a muscle toning session. I'm joking, but the place is very popular with joggers who love to run along the Corniche Vendéenne. It offers breathtaking panoramas and does not present any major difficulty. It is therefore a real option for you if you like running.

But if you are more of a holidaymaker than a sportsman, a walk in "quiet" mode will also give you great pleasure.

But before leaving for this hike along the corniche...

For this tailor-made experience to be complete, we advise you to go there on a market day (every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday) because, in addition to breathing the fresh morning air, you will appreciate the unique atmosphere that emanates from this square.

The salty smells, the cooked dishes and the fishy aroma that perfume them, the local producers proud to talk about their treasure, to let you taste their nectar; the market still remains today this timeless place where exchanges are always de rigueur.

An absolute pleasure, I tell you, and the perfect opportunity to find some succulences which will make your lunch a moment of excellence.

NB: Oysters and sardines are the masters of this place, so don't miss out on the pleasure and let yourself be tempted. After this morning appetizer, you are ready to take up the challenge of the day...

A 10.4 kilometre walk along the rocky and wild coast between Saint Gilles Croix de Vie and Saint Hilaire de Riez.

This hike will delight the nature lovers that you surely are...

You will be offered grandiose panoramas and you will be able to immortalise them in photos.

To know : The route is very well signposted. However, you will find little shade on the circuit.

We therefore advise you not to set off on hot days.

Of course, this hike will be enhanced by some delicious breaks...

  • At the Grosse Terre park to stroll among the pines and grasses while enjoying a sublime view of the ocean
  • A stop at the devil's hole is a must to feel the heart of the ocean boil.
  • The great beach of Sion for a delightful "farniente" break for a few hours... This walk will undoubtedly have whetted your appetite so...

Take a break from the beach and go to the forest at the back for lunch.

There's nothing like the shade and fragrant scent of the maritime pines to enjoy your picnic.

An afternoon of swimming and beach games...

The Grande plage de Sion is ideal for the family as there is something for everyone to do. Indeed, you will be able to rent equipment for sea kayaking or windsurfing. The water sports centre also offers private lessons if you are a beginner and want to learn these disciplines.

Beach games, swimming, sunbathing, what do you prefer?

Whatever you choose, the main thing is to ENJOY.

On the way back to your accommodation, you can always sit on a terrace to end the day on a refreshing note.

Of course, we would be delighted if you could tell us how the expedition went when you return. We're sure you'll have some funny and juicy anecdotes to tell us.
